A recent system anomaly on Vodafone’s billing platform has meant that customers may have been receiving extra chargeable services for free.
Great! I hear you cry…but this may not be all good for consumers that have gained from these errors.
Customers receiving this subsidy may now be so used to these additional benefits on their tariff that they may not understand what is or isn’t included within their price plan. With Vodafone’s announcement to remedy these issues, that’s now all about to change from 1st August 2016. Organisations and consumers will need to be more savvy with their roaming habits as well as be more aware of the location of the person they’re calling.
This is not the first instance that Vodafone has had billing errors – recently 20 million Vodafone customers were urged to check their mobile bill after a number of people were being overcharged off the back of a change in IT systems at the end of 2015. It is clear that this type of issue is not uncommon.
Details of the amendments are as follows:
- Out of zone calls are chargeable, for example calling from France to the USA.
- Data usage when roaming is combined with your UK usage. (previously roaming usage didn’t include UK usage and therefore up to double data usage could occur) Out of bundle rates will apply and roaming usage will be deducted from standard inclusive allowances
